Compulsory service in the military and subjection to rigorous military discipline, coupled with the fact of the dangers of our active war, will only serve to make criminals more resentful of the government. Mandatory military service is a big driver of protests and rebellions. Conscription would only hurt Russia in its current, fraying state.
